Incident management is the systematic, planned, and coordinated use of human, mechanical, and technical resources to reduce the duration and impact of incidents. Incident management also improves the safety of motorists, crash victims, and incident responders. This course explains how to reduce the time to detect and verify an incident occurrence, implement the appropriate response, and safely clear the incident, while managing the affected flow until full capacity is restored. This course is based on Traffic Incident Management Handbook of FHWA.
At the conclusion of this course, the learner will have a better understanding of traffic incident management (TIM) practices, as well as an understanding of the following topics:
